Rosacea
Flushing, redness, visible blood vessels, and bumps—rosacea can be frustrating, but it doesn’t have to be permanent. At SOMA Skin & Laser, we offer advanced diagnosis and targeted treatment for rosacea, helping you regain control over your skin and confidence.
What Is Rosacea?
Rosacea is a chronic inflammatory skin condition that most commonly affects the central face—the cheeks, nose, chin, and forehead. It often begins as intermittent redness or flushing, but over time, it can lead to persistent redness, visible capillaries (telangiectasias), acne-like breakouts, and even thickened skin on the nose (rhinophyma).
Common Symptoms of Rosacea:
-
Persistent facial redness or flushing
-
Visible blood vessels (spider veins)
-
Red, acne-like bumps or pustules
-
Skin sensitivity or burning
-
Swelling of the nose or cheeks
-
Eye irritation (ocular rosacea)
What Causes Rosacea?
The exact cause isn’t fully understood, but rosacea is likely due to a combination of:
-
Genetics
-
Overactive immune response

Environmental triggers
-
Demodex mites or bacteria on the skin
Rosacea is not caused by poor hygiene, and it’s not contagious.
